    Posted: 19 Dec 2009 at 8:27pm
Here's an assortment of different styles and sizes of minnow type lures by George Dempster. George's lures were known as "Dollar an inch" lures as that's how he charged for them.

Bob - It sounds like we need to talk my friend Tongue

Thanks Nicho, they are certainly one of my favourites. They don't seem to come up very often, although I have been fortunate to put a small collection of them together with the assistance of fellow LureLovers and friends. Thumbs Up

That brown striped and red spotted one , last photo, right side vertical is a dead ringer for the old ABU Killers (the pre Rebel, crossed hatched scale style finish) except they had a plastic straight bib. Easy to see where the  inspiration came from.

Tony, pic 1 and 5, the long skinny lure standing vertically. I am not sure what it is but am fairly sure it is not a Dempster.

Some nice old lures in this lot and in good nic too!
cheers steiny

You'll pay more than 'a dollar an inch' for them now. Had a mate here in Darwin mid 80's, family from Townsville, on a visit home he visited George, who used to sell from under his elevated home. Yes, dollar an inch was all he charged us, we used to fish them until we learned how valuable they had become. In fact caught my first lure caught barra on a 3".
Sadly, all now gone except one, owing to my BarraKing addiction Cry.
Seaweed.
