Hi.  These old ABU lures belong to a friend.  One is a hi-lo but I don't know the other model.  Does anyone have any ideas?  Also, are they collectable?

The Hi-Lo is collectable especially yours made in Sweden. The million doller pic is the underside of the yellow one or a closeup to see if there is writing on the bib.It looks to be a copy of a Heddon.

I agree with Barry. It is definately not Abu, its either Heddon or a Heddon copy. The Abu Hi Lo always had an adjustable lip, the first ones had 5 positions and the majority were later versions with 6 positions. I hope this helps.

Cheers, Mike.

I must admit I thought it may be a Shakespeare, were they sold in Oz ? It might also be an Allcock !

Let me know if you need any more info on the Hi Lo's.

Cheers, Mike.

Thanks for the info guys.  I've enclosed another picture of the yellow.  Hopefully that helps.
What would a Hi-Lo be worth to buy?

Does anyone have any idea on what the Hi-Lo would be worth?

Ringo yours is in not particularly good condition and I would say somewhere in the $15-$30 depending on who wants it.They do not command the high prices that the timber lures fetch unless an extremely rare
model or colour. This is only a rough idea for you.Darby may have some info re Hi-Lo sales in the last 12 months.

Again I agree with Barry, but in Europe I cannot see it selling for more than $15. The rarer ones do not have the word "Patent" on them especially if they are in their original boxes. The colour XBG is the most sought after. You can see that colour in top left in this Salesman's case from 1957 -

Whilst this case is not for sale I would expect it to make at least $1500 at auction.

Good luck, Mike.

Thanks for that.  Mike, are those your lures?  That's an awesome collection.

Yes Ringo, they are mine. I bought the case a few months back but I had to take out a few incorrect ones and replace them. I have never seen another salesmans case with Hi Lo in, there cannot be many left out there so keep your eyes open. Cheers, Mike.
