Last October I visited Singapore and spent some quality time with the guys from PR-LABS. I love these lures, check out the quality and uniqueness of them! More info can be had from their website at http://pr-labs.com/index.html

2004 Limited Edition Boxed set of nude shrimps. Very attractive lures.
Collection of Shrimps, Psycho Bass poppers and a popper protoype (silver lure)  that I fished with Daric from PR-Labs for Barra whilst in Singapore.
Teak drowned cicada

Teak Cicada

Teak Shrimp lures inlaid with white and black lipped oyster.
Left Shrimp lure glows in ultra violet light, all these lures have water channels running the entire length of the lure.
Closeup of 1001C crackle paint job, awesome!
Closer shot of the pink Radiation Shrimp that glows in UV light.

Hope you like them.

They are a beautifull looking Lure Paul, thanks for sharing them. Thumbs Up

Strangely enough I saw a PR Labs lure for the first time last week that a friend of Barry's showed us while visiting tackleworld in Cairns!

We liked it so much the camera came out! Here it is - Awesome lures! Tongue

Tony that looks like the larger shrimp, I fished one of these whilst in Singapore and lost it to a snag, ooops! You should see the action of this lure, it's got that great searching pattern us Aussies love and waggs it's head all over the place. Looks a bit like a mini platypus going crazy.

Alistair, they are carved by hand. I'm told that making the water channels through the lure takes a lot of skill to get them to link up so the water flows through.

I used a solid metallic red shrimp at Burrinjuck last Nov and lost it to a fish that took off like a freight train.

Alistair I forgot to mention that Daric from PR-Labs took the time to show me the hand drawings showing the evolution of his lures, I also got to see some prototypes leading up to the final design and some incredible ideas for a swag of new models. Daric has an amazing imagination and is clued into lure design.

He and his colleagues make a swag of mega sized saltwater poppers and zip over to Indonesia for example and go for the hard pulling saltwater species. They use the trips to field test new lures and find opportunities to improve lure designs.

Very sexy in that metallic blue colour, reminds me of the paint jobs from Pimp My Ride. I've got a little more than a few and I still get !@#$%^ off when I lose one. Got a great action.

The metallic one does look like a doof doof lure Dave - in a nice way though! I can imagine the fish would be all over it. Thank you for sharing it, I'm envious CryLOL
LOL
I had a quick look at the website (I wouldn't mind a few myself) and I like the story behind the business and the lure design - well worth a read, thanks for the link Ropes!

Great lures arn't they guys!

I'm new here, my name is Daniel & I own/operate a new company, 1 half of it will be wholesale and the other retail.

One of the up-coming products I'm looking to wholesale actually is this lure and if the shops don't seem to like it, I'll be retailing it direct.
The amount of science & innovation that goes into these lures is insane!
I've been in contact with them and I look forward to introducing the products further & Australia wide.

Cheers

Onya Darby I thought you might have a few tucked away. Bloody great looking lures! I'm off back to Singapore later this year and Ric (PR-LABS) is putting together another consigment of lures for me. Hopefully it will include one of the new Shrimp prototypes he's been talking to me about.

Good pics too. Thanks.

I thought I'd better add that Ric, the owner of PR-LABS loves catching big saltwater fish and loves nothing better than jetting off to other parts of Asia, like Indonesia to test his poppers on the likes of huge GTs etc.

I was stunned at how bloody big GT poppers are! You'd want to use a good outfilt or your back would be RS at the end of a serious day's fishing.

Daniel,

They are great looking lures, but I know nothing about the large poppers they make as I have no use for them. I certainly see a lot of this kind of stuff for sale, but that's all.

I do use the Psycho Bass and Shrimps. The Psycho Bass is a little large for my target species so now I tend to collect them.

As for the Shrimp, I absolutely love the action of the larger model it has the much desired side to side action that most of my Aussie made lures have. The smaller model has a much more subtle action in comparison. The lures I will be chasing from Ric will all be the larger model shrimp as I have plenty of the smaller ones already.

As for sale ability, it suggest you ask some retailers. The focus at the moment seems to be on Japanese lures so they may have stiff competition from them. And in the focus area things are shifting quickly as the TV shows reveal what the gun angler of the day has been using etc.

Good luck with your business venture.

Dan, it depends on how the lures are marketed, Deep Blue Sports had the local agency a while back and from what I heard, they had a tough time getting them accepted by the shops, but they did only minor advertising in a couple of magazines. The one tip I can pass on from my years in the tackle game (both sides of the counter) if the demand is there from the public, then shops will buy it. Get the product out there with TRUE results shown in the right circle, Create the demand and sales will follow.

Thanks alot for the Advice Brad,
I'll be introducing the product but the problem is I have limited money so not much can be spent on advertising but I'll defiantly be trying my best.
Hopefully I can get a few of my products out there into the tackle shops, one of my major players that I reckon will work successfully will be the Doctor Spinnerbait by Ko-Man-Chi.
It's a new spinnerbait and never been seen in Australia. - This will be exclusive through me and I really hope I can get the stores to take it on.

I wish I had some extra capital in order to spend it on advertising but I can always just try my best anyway, I think I have a pretty good set up with 2 sides of the business, 1 being retail and 1 being wholesale, so at least the retail will sell trusted brands that everyone knows which will support the wholesale side & the attempts to introduce new products.

Thanks again
P.S - If you have any other tips from experience, talk up! I'm all ears! (I'm only new to the industry/business, less than 4 months old).

Included in a very recent deal/swap/buy, I now have this trio in the collection.

Weird, exotic, left field - all fail to describe - 100mm plastics butt ugly but also very sweet.

Get ready for it, they ain't plastic! All hand carved from wood in Asia. You may even find that the bib in these are wood. From my memory of Rick's lures/colours, these one's have some age to them as well. Not made like this anymore either. Great pickup.

Oh and throw them under a UV light at least one of these appears to have the radiation paint. Glows like a beacon.
