There are not to many days on the Gold Coast when there is not high humidity , i have had enough of trying to warm up the room to get rid of it so i can dip auto clear so i have gone back to 2 pac , im not into drying lures in a rotisserie hot box and such , it rained heavily yesterday i had the garage door open and cleared with 2 pac the lures came up a treat ready to go to PNG , i brought some face masks and used a fan , all i used in the nineties was 2 pac , now im not saying you should go out and use 2 pac but i am now , thats up to you as it does carry some health risks if not used correctly , a bit of common sense really , cheers pearcey

your right Dave two pac clear goes well with a bit of humidity unlike acylic clear which blushes very easily, ive been using acrylic clear for 15 years but started using two pac about 6 months ago and haven't looked back(padgey convinced me to give it a go),the only problem ive found is that it makes my stick on eyes lift sometimes but I got around this by giving the eyes a couple of sprays of acrylic prior to spraying the whole thing with 2pac clear

Same here Dave, I used acylic when I first started making lures but living in Innisfail where you have more rainy days than fine ones can be frustrating. Since I've switched to 2 pac I haven't had a problem but I still try and clear on nice days.

I live in Darwin and our humidity would be worse than anywhere else in the country from September to May. The only way I've found to use clear-dip acrylic during this period, is to do it in an airconditioned room, set temp. to 18 degrees and use your ceiling fan aswell, (if you have, most northern homes have). Dip your lures, leave for 30mins. you'll never have 'blooming' using this method.

I use 2 pac almost exclusivly now, you need a resporater, not a disposable one, a proper one, you need to wipe it out after use with an alcohol type wipe, KFC wipes are good to.
I use disposable gloves, also wear disposable overalls and glasses. Try to spray with the wind behind me, and when my 4 yo daughter is not near me. I find 2 pac by far the best finnish, but it is bad stuff, will absorb through shin, hair and especially eyes. It contains chemicals that will cause cancer. Ill usually have a smoke straight after.....dumb arse that I am! |
