hey all,

just wondered what you all do re the hooks on collectibles
at the moment mine are left on and covered with plactic tubes.

im debating whether to take them off or not,
i like the look of them with hooks but dont wana run the risk of damage or rust creeping onto the bodies

Cheers

Ben

G'day Ben,I display/store all my lures with hooks as i believe they display better and are complete. However small hook marks are inevitable if one is not careful but as you have done you can put tube over them or a hook bonet.Very much an individual choice. Brolly.

hej Ben
i do like this ,if i send lures in mail i use tubing ,but i don't trust the material for longer
i remove it from lures i have in my display cases ,if you have a foam back in the cases you can use T-pins  ,anyways depends little bit on what the lures are worth me or someone, i have nice lures in my all days tackle boxes i use in the boat with protectors or loose w/o hooks ,life could be short and i like to fish some of them though  ,just my 2 cents
Cheers Thore

As mine hang on a net I now take off the belly hook and leave the rear one on to hang by. I dont see the need for hooks personally but admit that some of my more special lures that had hooks have had the originals bagged and tagged if needed in future to keep that "mint" aspect.

Hooks and rings off, bagged and tagged to preserve like Alistair. Hookless also means more lure room in display frames.
But in reality what ever floats ya boat.

After reaching out to retrieve one lure hanging in display cabinet, its belly hooks got caught up with anothers, and the first reaction is to quickly pull harder without thinking, embedding a treble it my hand, I have a preference for.......... hooks off.

Lures always look better with hooks when displayed. No hooks when stored as less chance of marking them. WinkWinkWink

As a lure maker, I usually ask whether to attach the hooks or store them in a separate bag, when it comes to the Collector Sets.  If hooks are attached I protect the paintwork from hook damage using foam packaging material.  With some of the bigger lures, like the Mega Booma's and big Kaditchas, the lures have to be sent without hooks attached to protect the lures.

Personally, I think that lures look much better with hooks attached but would prefer to post them without hooks attachedConfused.

We find a lot of lures on the banks of the dam in rarious stages of condition. Some are pristine some corroded trebles  some water logged. But we keep them all to put a name to them. The lures in pristine condition I clean, dry cover and store and the rest, rusty hooks dents can't get much worse, I leave the hooks on. For my nudies I've taken the trebles off but have kept a sample one on. Still don't know whether I've done the right thing. Time will tell.

Some of my collectables I have removed the hooks, other I have kept on. I use to use plastic tubing on those with hooks, but it always used to come off. Now I go to a electrical wholesaler and buy clear heat shrink tubing and shrink that in the barbs.

Reckon it's all trebles off with the Deceptions .... but rest assured, each one is meticulously catalogued, bagged and kept for later

Doing some mental gymnastics, there's between 2000 to 3000 trebles in this pile

Hooks off for me there much easier to handle, I have kept some of the hooks but most end up in the bin.
