Yesterday Australia Post released a new stamp issue featuring Freshwater Crayfish. Coincidentally, one of the species depicted on the stamps, the Lamington Spiny Crayfish(Euastacus sulcatus), was also the subject for a set of three lures that Ted Sartori did for me back in December 2010.
I've always been a big fan of crayfish style lures with this particular set being one of my favourites. Apart from being made by a very talented gentleman and friend they also bring back fond memories of my youth when we chased these crays around the streams of Mt Warning.

Love your work Lofty!

Came across these crayfish one night driving to the Natural Arch. They were crossing the road to get to a creek on the other side. They are one tough and angry critter. Very spectacular animal though. They can arch their claws right back to cover their body so it’s hard to pick them up behind the head. We ran over a few before we stopped to check out what we thought were spiders crossing the road. Most of those we ran over when we looked back just kept on crawling.
Martin-

you don't havta be pretty to fish
