Thought I post this up, recent trip to Stanthorpe I visited Les, what a fantastic character.
Next time I'm there I'll get some photos of him and his shed(if it's ok with him), also see if I can get some history, he has certainly been around for a while.
Cheers
Ollie

Ollie thankyou for posting them up.They are very striking.
It would be great if you could get some pics and maybe a bio if possible.
These older luremakers sometimes do not like the cerfuffle when approached for such a thing.
I think I spelt that wrong derrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Nice display Ollie - I love Les' lures Clap

Would be great if you can get a bio together for Les, I have spoken to Les about it on the phone although getting there in person to do it is proving a challenge.

Here's another two models that Les discontinued some time back. The top one is a "Scotty B" and the bottom is a "Lil Shrimp". Les made up another two only of each of these lures earlier this year and gave one of each model to myself, and the other two to another lucky fan of his work.

"ScottyB" & "Lil Shrimp"

Cheers, Tony

G'day Ollie,

Yes I have bought a fair few lures off Les, some for the collection and others to fish with, can't have too many I say! Big smile

Les wasn't sure what I meant when I asked for some nudies, he'd never sold any before and did a bit of experimenting with a few different methods! The end result looks great I reckon.

The finish is with fibreglass resin which is how Les seals all of his lures prior to painting. Les said he's not making any more nudies as it was a pain in the butt to do, so I'm glad I asked when I did!

Only a few weeks to go now until I'll be able to start unpacking my lures and putting some on display so will get some more pics organised after that Thumbs Up
Cheers, Tony

Tony and Ollie,

I hope you don't mind me adding a couple I have collected over the last 20 years, These are the ones that no longer go fishing. And I've marked the Photos of some of the harder to find Models.

I call in on Les approx 10 times a year and often give him a little project LOL  and we swap a few Timbers from time to time.

Cheers Steve

Steve, just found this great display of Les' lures, thanks to you I have a Troupy. After you introduced them to me I was fortunate to find two other models in a Darwin junk shop. Regards, Tony.

Have picked up a few more of Les's lures on the weekend, ones I didn't have to add to my collection.
Great character, he has agreed to do a Bio, as soon as I have everything together I'll post it.

Les has only recently started making the Scotty B, a few people asked him about them so he started making them again. He was always perplexed why originally they didn't sell as he loved their action.

Hi Guys,  I met this man at his home couple of years ago.
It was like show and tell. He explained his lure making process from the bib to bodies to painting and everything in between.
A  real aussie character. Loves a rum and isn`t afraid to speak his mind.
The subject of some of his lures being sold for 20 bucks each on ebay annoyed him so much that he began writing the price of  $5 each on his lures so it wouldn`t happen again.
He felt that the price of his lures was fair and he made them for fishing.
He said  " The jury was still out about collectors buying his lures" .  But he sort of thought  that it was okay as long as they didn`t rip any one off who did not know any better.  Hence the $5 price under the clearcoat.  For me personally I enjoyed having a yarn with the man.
cheers chris

If you got any of his larger 3 treble lures you are lucky, as on Jan this year Les is no longer making them - they are getting to much for him to make. There is another lure he is going to discontinue but I can't remember which one it is at the moment. He is having too much trouble holding onto them when shaping them.

I see you have a one hook and a 2 hook midget there Mick. Les only made about 30 of the 2 hook and 15 of the one hook midget before he stopped - too small for him to hold.
