Picked this yesterday from Ben Pearson (see other post).

Thought to have originated from Qld Sunshine Coast mackerel boys.

S/steel mono trace around 500mm long, 2 x haywire twists at either end, a graduation of slender barrel sinkers, clear or white tubing with a red tipped plastic wire insulation.

Deploy and run it at 15 knots or whatever out to mackerel grounds and hang on.

Best has been a 22kg spaniard taken at speed.

Resembles a fast swimming gar and is cheap to make/lose.Shocked

wadeyThumbs Up

Reminds me of 'white out'ing a small barrel sinker white and simply running it down to a hook, bouncing it through tidal sand flats and braining flathead, back in the day.
I think I got the idea from the same magazine that said cutting a teaspoon in half makes 2 great lures (it did, too - but my mum wailed on me for cutting a spoon in half)
