I don't know about this model. But my very first leccy 20 years ago was a Motor Guide - a lot cheaper then the equivilant in a Minn Kota, but I couldn't fault it.

I have a few mates with these. They reckon that the spot lock on the motorguide is better than the MinnKota. But the also said it is early days with regard to reliability.

One on fake is better than ten on bait!!

Mark the only negative I have come across is the remote not sealed the best .A good friend in Perth has just got one and is very happy with how it performs he previously had minnkota.
I have got minnkota I pilot cant fault it I think prices are similar

Ive had a Minnkota 55lb foot control. Hardly used over 5 years. I have already paid for a 2nd foot control about a year ago and now have to spend another ( quoted $435 by the Supplier) to fix the auto pilot and another foot control.i washed it every time after every  trip.  I told them its not worth it with only a 6 month guarantee on the parts .Its been a LEMON. I was wondering about the Motorguide as I won't buy another Minnkota. Trouble is I am cynical about the reviews I read. Everything seems to be great.OuchOuchOuchOuchOuchOuchOuchOuchOuchOuchOuchOuch

i have had no trouble with my minnkota, i think the trick is to buy the salt water unit and then use it in freshwater, i have found it to be a great unit, and great to have in the boat in the event of an engine failure.

Been a Minn Kota all my life, but I saw a thread on stalkbook the other night and every one in the bass pro scene were talking up the Xi 5.. They all say the anchor lock is extremely accurate where as the MK tens to wander.

They were all swapping out of MK to the Xi 5... I don't know if they're readily available though??
