Nice start to your Heddon Collection. I've been looking for some old Tigers for Barra. Got these off Ebay this week, hook hangers all rusted out and need fixing!! I'm thinking they may be early Jap copies... Confused

Also got another UMCO tackle box so I can lay out some of my ever-increasing pile of Heddons. A nice small "Old Pal" to put the small River Runts in.

Gee thanks Brad, I have been reading my book I've got off Ebay, "Old fishing lures & tackle" by Carl Luckey. I was amazed at the number of lure models Heddon brought out! Read the history of the company, they acquired some smaller firms over the years...
Got this nice old "vamp" in the mail today... Thanks Martin, a nice swap for a Wilson "Stones" lure... Wink

I even managed to acquire a couple of Heddon Woods. Not too sure of their history, but I think they were re-released in the 90's to commemorate some older models.

These two marked lures have me stumped! Same as the other Sonic and Torpedo, but have "2nd" painted on them! Maybe factory seconds? Confused

Decent collect of Heddon Ian Thumbs Up

You are correct that the "2nd" means a factory "second". I have seen boxed lures marked as such now & then on Ebay Wink

Thanks Dave, on closer inspection, I can see a couple of flaws. Also have another Sonic with 85 stamped on the side! Any ideas on this one? Confused
I have one that looks like a Super Sonic but not stamped. It doesn't have a rattle so not a Shakespeare Klatter Kat...
I have found a few differences in the chin weights of the smaller Sonics, some look like they are coming loose?? Shocked

Ian, The Heddon Woods were designed by Lee Sisson, I have a few myself. You can see similar shapes that he designed for Bagleys and Wordens over the years, and the Tennessee Shad colour there is one of my favourites.

I've never seen anything like the "85" before Shocked maybe a inspector stamp? Odd for sure.

The unmarked could be a Herters or Chinese copy (even sold at "dollar" stores at one time).

Sonics are famous for losing the paint on the chin weights...but I've never seen one where the weight had fallen out. That doens't mean it hasn't happened though Wink
