Hello everyone!

Been fishing all my life starting off with bait but over the last 10 years I moved into lures and plastics. Im pretty lucky to live where I do having close access to the ocean and close access to the fresh. Obout two years ago I decided I was going to make my own lures, mainly painting plastic blanks, and started to source the equipment. This got put on hold as a few kids have come along since then but have recently decided to finally start.

Found this forum just searching Mr Google for paints and painting tips. Found some good info on here already and now I think I want to make timber lures as well!.... it looks addictive.. anyway enough dribble, look forward to throwing questions at you all in the future.

Cheers, Sam.

Welcome Sam, good to see another Northern Rivers location member.

I would suggest you give the timber making a crack, personally I prefer them over plastic most of the time as I think they give off a better and more natural 'sound' and at least are another option to throw when the fish are being difficult. Look forward to seeing some of your gear.
Alistair.

Hey Alistar,
Mate just had a look at your profile and realized I have probably already met you with the work I do in casino! I'm sure you have been into my work on Walker street and spoke with me at counter before. Marlene was there also. what I do for work I keep private but her name and the location should give you a fair idea!

I make lures to fish with myself, only in small numbers as have limited time or desire to spend too much time but they work well for the Bass and Cod I chase. Also have made a number of poppers from Bass to GT sized on the lathe which can be enjoyable to do and pretty easy once you get the knack. Weighting the big ones correctly is the biggest issue I find. My solo work area is Tweed-Grafton out to Boggabilla so I sometimes factor in an overnight riverside camp when out west working to give them a run and beats a motel everytime when you can pick up a cod or 3 before /after workWink

Will catch up for sure. I am through town most days on my travels so keep an eye out for a current white duelcab hilux which has halo daytime lights on the spotties so I stick out pretty much.
