that looks suspiciously like a burl and the softer parts must have rotted out with being submerged.

Brad the log/stump was about a foot by foot and half and I could only see a little bit of it as I paddled past it nearly tipped me over when I went to put it in the yak, it took about 3 months to dry out, I'll bring some of it to the expo, cheers Bryan.
