I have found using an old cast or drag net is great for getting numbers of lures up as well as ease of seeing everything.

Mencho's lures on some metal shelving that would normally hold plastic bins.

It's a mind numbing experience to walk into that room Ropes - I could only handle it in 10 to 15 min sessions and needed to get out for a while to get my heart rate back down LOL

Barry - it looks like I've got sign off from SWMBO to build my room, finally I'll get to put the net you sent to good use! OhYeah (or at least start filling part of it) Smile

Great idea with the rack for Mencho's lures, and it looks like those BOB lures have been breeding too! Big smile
Cheers, Tony

For the love of Fishing Lures.

Woo up big fella, you havn't asked the missus yet.
I have another wall a similar size with rods on it and i may rearrange them and get that wall for a net also.
The reason I came to Cairns in the first place was because of lures.I run out of species to catch in Coff's and kept reading Vic's articles of all the fish to be attrected by lures in the north and here I am still.

Hi Barry
For my room, I laid claim to one of the bedrooms, the one with best view in front of house, as only appropriate to an ABU shrine.
Re permissions..
Then I do as I want in here but no lures rods reels out side the room, except on wall in garage for a dozen  Estuary outfits, and in boat shed for another dozen bluewater rigs.

Hey love the net for lures. You may start a trend here.
Never thought of that myself until a couple of years ago when i was getting limited in space for the empty reel cartons. I suspended part of the old baitnet from ceiling to hold the packaging.
It actually looks more effective than my yoga mat foam for the lures.
I wanted  to create the Swedish flag as a backdrop so netting never came to mind.
I should have painted the flag then used net.

Congratulations on a wonderful display!

Thanks Wayne. My first net was an 8ft mono cast net suspended in a semi circle but ran out of room fast so the one in the picture is 8ft tall and 9ft long and I need another one soon.
My tradeoff that my wife collects Bromeliads(south american plants)and I collect tackle.
I will put up a bit off tackle in the next week.

barry
You will have to take a drive down this way one day and see my room.
The ride in my boat will be a bit low key compared to what you are used to up there i'm afraid.
Hope to get up your way some time.
The better half have can always take away some of my brom pups if she does not have them.
They are not necessarily cheaper than lures but at least replicate for friends!

I like the net Idea. The drag net does allow the lures to be hung in nice straight rows with little damage to the wall to hang. I have had a look around but cant find any drag nets available unless buying new which is a few$$$. I have looked into another option I think I may go with and that is to use Nylon bird netting that is used over fruit trees. Strong and light and comes in black or white and at $3 a meter (4mts wide) it is very cheap.

I look forward to posting some pics once done. 1 of the lures and one of my wifes face first time she sees it and see's how many I have once pulled out of all the boxes hidden awayLOLLOLLOL. Nothing on Barry's collection though, for nowWink

Looks fantastic!

I love the little twist of using an old out-dated form of fishing genereally associated with catch and kill, to support a modern style of fishing generally assoociated with catch and release.

Well Alistair you gave me the get up and go to go over to my room and count the lures just on the wall netting.
What I would like is for our members to have a guess and whoever is closest to the number by Monday 7th June @ 7pm I will send them a signed Barry Cross Custom Popper.
So get the pics up and start counting and no telling the kids to do it or paying someone all you big people out there.

Thats very nice of you Barry, well in a way it is rather sadistic that there will be a heap of people staring at a computer screen closely going blind counting your lures, but nice all the sameLOL

Assuming there are no B.O.B lures on the netting it's simply a matter of counting the eyes and dividing by 2................................
