The concept for this magnificent semi-nude set of Ollie's "Cuttlefish" was formulated several years ago and knowing the quality of Ollie's work I knew that I would be impressed with the final product. However, when they were recently unveiled to me I was in total awe.
Ollie told me that they would take some time as he wanted to do a "good" job. One quick glance will clearly show that he has put his heart and soul into their production. With all the attention to detail and exquisite craftsmanship I can't begin to imagine how many hours Ollie spent in creating them. I feel truly privileged to add them to my collection and will treasure them always. I would also like to publicly thank Paul Kneller for his assistance in generously donating some of the timbers used to make the set. Apart from the Cuttlefish Set, I was delighted to also come home with one of Ollie's amazing "Grasshoppers". Please enjoy the photos, Col |

While at the Expo last weekend I was privileged to pick up another of Ollie's Cuttlefish Collections. This time it was a set in glorious full colour to complement the semi-nude set from last year.
The palette of subtle pastel shades that Ollie employed combined perfectly to create a visual triumph of understated elegance. Once again I am in awe of Ollie's carving skills and creative flair. For me, it's exciting to witness the wave of creative genius that is currently unfolding across the Australian hand carved lure scene, launching it well and truly up to world standard. This movement is being led by a small band of inspired craftsmen, each with their own distinct style, that have jump-started the industry and I'm sure that I'm not alone in considering Ollie to be one of their heros. One quick look(or a prolonged drool) at the Awards Cabinet at the Lure Expo will make this self evident. It's a great time to be a lure collector. I have also added a photo of Ollie's award wining ornamental lure just for good measure. Please enjoy, Col |

Hows the saying? I don't know much about art but I know what I like.
Certainly applicable with Ollie's work. We are lucky to have some incredible guys on here that have the vision to turn out wooden creations like this. With them inspiring each other I wonder where the limits of creativity are. |

Thank you Col for a great wrap, pictures and everyone else for their kind words. Always try to push the creative boundaries of lure making and create something which hasn't been done before. There are certainly plenty of talented lure makers out there enjoying the art of making lures, possibilities are endless.
Had a great weekend at Lure Expo catching up with old faces and meeting plenty of new ones, really enjoyed "Campsite Chris" dinner Friday Night, I think he'll need to put on staff for next years event. Looking forward to next years Expo. Ollie |
