I think I may have dropped onto another NEW Lure maker for W. A.
Located this full page ad Anglers Digest Jan 1970 I may have something similiar but was not aware of the name. Anybody else happened to have used them in the past Black and white picture just a little hard to see. Regards John

John I remember using one in the early 70's. I think it was a pink one. Can't recall catching anything on it and probably got it snagged on the bottom and lost it...

John, I remember the Flutterfish quite well. Fysshe is quite right they were mostly painted in slightly fluro colours. They were a medium sized, kind of diamond shaped, cast alloy slug with a pronounced ridge running down the central lengthwise axis of each side. I can't vouch for their action "on the drop", which was their advertised claim to fame, but off the rocks they had a slow wide wobble when retrieved that worked on tailor and salmon. Halco later made a lure called the Kimberley Caster that was not entirely dissimilar in shape to a "half" Flutterfish minus the central ridge. I have none left so thanks for reminding me of this lure. Regards, Ken.

I am fairly sure that the lure is Canadian….the Mounties carried one in their survival kit.

"Buzz bomb" is the lure I was thinking about……the flutter fish is probably a knockoff.

Good memory Laurie
I thought the one I had was hollow inside Is the pink Buzz Bombs hollow or solid Ian, just a little hard to tell. Is it like a smaller version of an "Iron" In the black and white photo I though the Flutter Fish was hollow inside. Regards John Regards John

Hollow inside, rigged just like a Tassy Devil style lure.

Otter Lures made other lure models as well as the Flutterfish. The guys name was Neil Otter and he also released a metal slug called the 'Mighty Mack' with a similar advert. There is also a Neil Otter plug that was similar to the old salmon plugs that came in a cardboard package with a GPO Box number in Perth.
