Hi Good Morning !! Lucky to get one sample Meranti
Timber block from Dave during my visit to New Castle in June/July. Was planning to make some lures
out of the same, long back I did cut out timber as well design & bib. For
the last few days I have been working on the prototype as Meranti is new for me
and today I could find time to do water test. Details: Size : 80mm / Weight: 23 gms / Bib Angle:40 degree / Eyes
:screw eyes / No weight Here are some of the pictures: Here is the link to the video: https://youtu.be/6FwbD25NAlU Look forward for views. Thanks, Regards, Raghubir |

Good morning everyone !!
Yes Dave, profile cutting and bib cutting was easy but carving was tough. At one point i though of dropping and then i used stanley cutter with heavy blade and it was smooth. First time i got the bib slot prefect square to the sides by using home made jig & for smoothing the sides & edges i used home made disc sander driven by drill machine. For shaping i used coarse sandpaper of 60 grade to began with and finish with 1000 grade. Thanks Per, Martin, Shane and Daniel for the feedback trying to be slow while making the lure, keep patience and not running to finish the lure in one day. Have a wounderful Day. Regards, Raghubir |

Yes, Martin I was well aware before that tools will save time and will take care of some of the hardship like sanding with hand and so on.
Martin I started with only few tools and scrap wood as a hobby, no plans to go commercially. In my Journey when things started moving in right direction and at different stages need for tools was felt. I started making them since they are pretty expensive over here and I do believe in making own. Life is pretty fast here, I get time only on week off Friday & Saturday to work on my hobby while on working days once I am back home spend few hours curving the lures which gives me immense relaxation.
