Wivenhoe and Somerset Dams at night are where I used to go. At the picnic areas. If you go to The Spit at Somerset you have to be set up before they close the gates and park your car just outside the gates.

I used to use half boiled potatoes that were left in water for 24 hours before hand. I've seen cabbage work very well. I used to be under the impression (through fishing articles) that they were solely vegetarian, but I have also seen cans of tuna work very well. Maybe use a mixture of vegetable and tuna baits - maybe try a tuna sandwich........?Confused

Hey Mick
Stumbled across a fresh clip on YouTube that’s only a week old the other day.
Search for ‘Somerset Redclaw Secrets 3’
Gives an in depth view on one blokes techniques including a modified crab trap he makes (which still looks to meet the QLD Fisheries guidelines) as opposed to the old opera house.
Happy Hunting!!
Cheers,

Troy

we go to somerset - use mainly rockmelon & pumpkin - either water that is 2 - 3 mtrs deep off grassy banks or beside timber in deeper water - they move around a bit so persevere mick - good luck mate

Summer Set Dam, but put your pots up as past the power lines, as we found human rats in their canoes don't like to go that far at night, Watermelon Pineapple skins seem to work best for us,best of luck.Thumbs Up
