That top one is a fair lump of timber mate, geez it wouldn't be hard to walk past one of these timber Reidys without giving it a second glance.

Possibly one of the rarest lures to find.Timber Reidys.
Especially since he produced many many timber lures.
I am sure he told me he made thousands.

Read somewhere that he made many, as Barry states, but were so good at catching fish that they all ended up lost, not hiding in tackle boxes.

Simon you are right about the eyes. I went back and had another look at some of his other timber lures and no two are the same. Those three all were cut out using the same master on the lathe. You could vary the size by making an adjustment. These shapes were sold in Cairns, Mossman, Darwin and somewhere in SA.
Jeff told me the story that when he first started making lures, money was so tight that he made do with what he had. He said he had an order made up of 100 lures and didn't have the money to mail them.

Interesting story about where they were sold Ian, I've never ever come across any in Darwin, either new or used. Any clues to timeline? I'll speak with George next I see him, try to jog his memory. The tackle business must be booming, he's away on a European trip at the moment LOL.
