I carved a few Scorps, when I did that one for you, Wadey.
The Scorp, below, was carved from an unusual piece of Rosewood that Bryan Power gave me a few years ago. Not sure if the mottled, light coloured timber is diseased sapwood or a natural feature.
Cheers
Travers

Hi Travers, The light coloured part of the timber is called Spalling or Spalted, think its the result of a fungus infestation. Some years ago i had a huge piece of light coloured timber completely transfigured with the black marks through it. Should have made some Nudes with it!! Cheers Richard.

I like that grain Travers , you should join 2 peices of it and make a thicker peice for it to be on both sides like that it would be a awesome lure if you could.
Cheers Rick

Thanks Chris. I started making lures in 1983, so this is my 30th year of lure making. Hopefully, I've made a little bit of progress from those first 'roughies'
Cheers
