I would not agree, entirely.
How many BIG Trevally missed strikes on the surface, DON'T make you jump with that familiar JOLT of Electricity!
Bass surface strikes do the same, for me anyway.
Hit or Miss, the strike is what turns a dull retrieve/troll into an EXCITING one!
Just my view.
Would love to try some of these!

Exactly Mal!

I'm no pro bass fisherman but love it and can say that a missed strike excites me more... knowing that his there and is going for my lure.
Makes me want to try harder to get that hook up!

All part of bass fishing...that surface hit!
