Hi, I picked up a cheapish tinnie just after Christmas to do up as a luring tinnie. I chose to go this way, not because I am handy, far from it but mainly because the ones that were for sale all set up were too dear for me to get permission as we already have a bigger boat. I have attached some before and after shots. Still got the electrics to do but hopefully my mate will get that done this week. A few reasons why I went with the traditional V nose than a barra 'punt' like a hornet were the higher sides because of the lizards up here and also we fish a few headlands so we will hopefully get a better ride if it blows up. It also had the motor I was after, a 3 cylinder Yamaha. As the photos show I left in the bench seats as they form part of the casting platforms, got an electric motor bracket fitted, a sounder console and got the old transducer holes welded up and a transducer bracket added as well as the bow rails removed and threw the canopy away. Now just got to get out and use it.

Thanks Ian, yeah I am happy with the way it came up and my mechanic gave the Yammy 2 thumbs up when he gave it a good going over. |

Came up good
A mate n Townsville and I parked outside the entrance to alligator Creek at 3 am one morning. It was low tide and the entrance then was silted up and his tinny just that little too deep. He were both watching a crab pot float in the moon light when it disappeared. Rod said - that will come up soon the croc won't keep that down for too long - it never did come back up

Thanks Martin. Yeah the croc numbers are increasing and so are their sizes, but it is what it is. They have been here longer than us. Still doesn't mean I like it though. Just have to be more careful now days.
