bob, ive got a 5 pc NITRO baitcaster, it is brilliant, only section you can tell is the tip section, other than that, you cant tell its multi pc, the action is as a 1 pc rod, no flatspots.
think they retail around $350-$400, BUT ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY.

Hey BOB, as far as I am aware Diawa still makes them. They are a great little rod. I gave one to my bro-in-law. If this one was a spin stick then I would have kept it for myself.

the rod is a Daiwa Heartland-s HL-S 604ULFS 6'0" ultra light lure 1/16-3/8 2-4lb

about 500mm long in bag

i had to order it from the tackle shop but great rods longer heavier ones as well

the shimano mexican have some good ones and are easier to get for around the $120

just watch some high end ones state very fine blanks but they use a compressed graphite and or similar,
that adds a lot of weight to the thin rod and do break easyOuch somtimes you pay for name

regards George

I got his 6ft 4pc and its a work of art. Not the kind to put on the wall but to get down and dirty with.
Send him the specs your after and he will work his magic

Bob
I have both a Daiwa Wilderness 603lfs and a Shimano Raider 663.
Both would be suitable, Daiwa about $220 and Shimano $100
They break down to a length that will fit in your bow quiver.

As Oldman said the Wilderness is a great rod I didn't even know it was a travel rod the first time I picked one up it felt like a 1 piece, get your hands on one.

Nitro Traveller - have one 5 piece very compact comes with a case nice action my travel trout trod of choice.  My only negative, and this may be partially operator error, is I am prone to tip wrapping when casting trout minnows.   has a nice action 1000 size shimano on it.  5 pieces about 350 long in case a bit less in the rod bag (separate comprtments)

Daiwa Wilderness mate bought one on a recent trip to Tassie the lightest spin one.  3 piece awesome rod comes with a case but is quite long maybe 600 in the case.  very solid case and a great rod action.  ran a 1000 size shimano on it well balanced.

Shimano T series T curve - bought a 3 to 5 kg one again a 3 piece so a bit bigger case but a very nicely put together outfit a bit more expensive.  The T series has the cork grips which I like but ther ar also some travel rods in the Inshore series as well as the mexican fire all nice action.

Again I have used the above three is getting the most compact package was the go id get the nitro but the shimano and daiwa are really nice.  I was impressed by the wilderness but the nitro wins the smallest package contest and is a very nice actioned rod too.

I just bought a 3 piece Tsumami Odyssey 3-5 kg stick that is 2.15 metres long in 3 equal length parts for $89. It has no flat spots and is sweet to use as well = great for the price.

If any of you get a chance...don't hesitate to give a try with an Eagle Claw Trailmaster.

I have a 7'6" spin/fly model rated for lures 1/8 - 1/4 oz but it will handle up to 3/8 if need be. I haven't fly fished with it but I read that they are reasonable.

The extra length gives extra leverage that allows for handling the surprise bigger fish. One guy posted a review on the Basspro page for the rods said he caught a 17 lb channel catfish on one.

$60 - $70 US won't break the bank. Wally World here in the states has a spin combo that is light enough to ship 1st Class (2.5 lbs shipping weight).

http://www.eagleclaw.com/product/rods/product-line/Trailmaster

As I sell off my fishing gear due to a lack of a job...it will be one of the very last things to go Cry
