Love Tilsans in every model.
Caught plenty of barra on the second biggest, the Tilsan Barra.
But I once caught a 13.5 kg Mary River Cod on a black Tilsan Trout.
Yours don't look like Tilsans to me.

I had a look and have a couple of diferent ones hanging on the wall. They have the same skeleton frame as those ones as yours Pete but are different in shape with the stamped patterns over spray job paint and have the Tilsan on the bib. Do yours have the bib writing?

Craig, no photo on your post?

Take a photo front on like I did Pete so we can have a look.Wink The difference I can see is in the tow points. On the Tisans the towpoint is low in the bib where it has a dished out hole for it to sit in, moulded for that purpose. The McGrath's are like a deception where the bib is flat and the towpoint is above the lexan when looked at side on.

Heres some Trouts including a prototype of the Deep Trout at the bottom with a hand shaped bib before the moulded bib with centre line frame was included in the range. It was made by Til and given to a bloke I knew years ago and we made contact again when I bought it @ auction from him.
As none of these colours appear in that advert, I have to think they are pre 1995, thanks for the info.

Darbs
There appears to be a bit of extra paint work with the top light brown lure. It looks very effective I wonder if it ever went in to production.

John, it is not the only one I have seen around so would have been part of the colour range, heres a better shot with his family

and a close up of the prototype deep showing where the changes were made to the original shallow body. Til was clever with the use of the kinked bib to utilise the same body for both depths.

Darbs,

So the Rainbow Trout colour is a TS5 (sinking model). Have you compared weights or (heaven forbid)

thrown the other 2 in a dish of water to see if they may be TF5s (floating model)?

The deep diver is the TDF5 (floating)

Love that pink with black stripes prototype, that colour is not in the 94 or the 95 Harbords.

Cheers,Jim

And they creamed the estuary perch too - very fond memories from the shallow trout in both sinking (easier to cast) and the floating at Venus Bay and teh Tarwin River. All I need now is to find some Red Barrons in all models and I'll be happy!
Painted sticks with hooks sure, but they are oh soooo nice!

Jim, I am not sure if it is a standard colour, not easy to find any colour charts from back then, unless John comes across one in his boxes of books.
I do know that Til made the prototype (for the bloke I know) to fish for Flathead, and as everyone knows, Pink seems to be the #1 colour for Flathead anglers. So that may be the reason, the stripes look to be airbrushed rather than Pad print to may lend some weight to the earlier date assumption.
