Have been playing around with some of the 2-3000 year old bog oak. Got 6 Lures out off the first piece
Have made one finished as it is going to AU tomorrow together with some other Lures.
This bog oak is only made fore display without clear coating, as that will darken the wood so much it would be very difficult to see the grain

      Have a great day

Will try make one in polished Brass and one in Silver. Also have an old Trophy in Silver with Gold on the inside to see how thy looks on the other Lures i have made

The Oak from this piece is not nearly as hard as fresh Oak because it is so degenerated as it is. I had to cut a lot off to get clean pieces to make the Lures off.
Some off the Lures in the Pict. are missing some wood I will fill with epoxy.
Have plan to fish some off them.
Imagine catch Fish on 3000 year old Wood Shocked
The other bigger piece is much more fresh, and i imagine that is more hard.
Will find out soon Smile

Here is a 75mm. Minnow with a bib made from an old trophy that is Silver on the outside and real gold on the inside. The golden Hooks gives a nice touch too I think.
The hardware is not glued yet, as I did not have any golden Eyes in the right size. Have to bye some and put on. More easy to do that with out the Hooks attached Ouch
There is a little crack in the rear end, but all in all i think it came up nice

The stand is made from the side off cut

Very nice per, the root boles in the peat moor loch will be caledonian pine from an ancient forest which once covered large parts of Scotland. If I'm up that way next season I'll take a closer look at some ....

Haven´t been posting any thing in 2018 so thought i would show these Spoons i finished today. Plan was make 3 VIP lures fore friends with birthdays.
Made so many errors a long I ended up with 8 before i was satisfied with 4 off them as VIP´s thy are made by 1mm. Alpaka soldered together with 0,5mm. Brass.
2 off then i did not solder, so thy are 1mm. Alpaka
The best 3 are now at the jeweler fore engraving
Now i just have to decide what to do with the rest

John
We have the worst drought for many many years and lack of lots of water in all streams. The fishery for sea trout is very bad as there are no fish in the watercourses. Has been out several times without results.
Have 3 weeks of vacation now, so hope for rain coming soon that can send new sea trout into the rivers
