Been collecting quite a few knackered lures lately for refurbishing. Most I know what they are but some seem to be "backyarders". Anyway, a couple of them were great designs and really looked the goods after a revamp. The first one had a bib that seemed off centre and out of proportion to the body, but after some re-designing and making it a bit more symmetrical, it swam really well in the test tank...

These two looked like they were from the same maker and scrubbed up quite well also.

This Kadaitcha styled lure had the remnants of a poly bib so I made one to suit and glued it in. Painted in the New England style. It has a great action now as well.

Thanks guys. Mick, that gold scaled one was made from white beech. Kept most of its shape, just made the back a little rounder.

I have a box full of rescued lures ready for re-birth: Killas, C lures, Forrester, Nautilis, Barra King, Lees, Leads, Sure Lures, Elliots, Tinaroo, Munt and some randoms. Probably look to move some on soon, will seek expressions of interest for colour requests.

So good! Love the finished products.
How do you work through the refurb process? Strip back to bare timber by sanding? New hook anchors or original?
After stripping back....? Undercoat, paintwork then seal? Love to hear about the process

Hi Dan, the restoration process depends a lot on the condition of the lure! Basically strip back the paint and inspect, replace missing or corroded hangers. Sometimes I'll have to replace broken or rusted bibs (usually try to make a template of original bib if possible). Next step is to repair body of lure if damaged (wood putty or auto body filler) and sand back. Re-seal the lure with two pack sealer (Everdure) and prime. (Etch prime first if metal bibs and then two coats of white primer) light sanding between coats. Re-paint as to my discretion or customer requests. I don't try to copy original colour patterns but will do a similar style as I do my own lures. Cheers...

Hi Michael, most are still white primed at the moment. I'll try to lay out the lures shortly and photograph. Some of the models I'm not too sure of but if you see something you like, let me know.

Most of the ones ready for painting, but I do have a few GN poppers still to be stripped.

The LH row are Killas, the top one has a modified bib (don't know if it is original or someone has ground the tip off). The next row are 3 Nautilus, Barra King, 2 Forrester, 1 unknown, possibly Damper Diver. Next row are 2 Elliots, 3 Leads (I think), Dempster, Flint. Next row are 3 'C' Lures, Sure Lure, Munt, Unknown.

I also have several Killas re-painted (but not signed) that I will be moving on, and these two Tinaroo lures.
