This is an unusual vintage multi-purpose knife passed down to me from a family member. Does anyone know what the unusual attachments might be used for? Any info on age etc would be useful.

Could be ex navy issue (have one very similar).
General purpose blade, can opener and marlin spike. The spike was used when splicing to separate the threads.

Haven't seen one of these since I was a kid! We all had them in our pockets, army surplus store sold them. Must have been cheap for us kids to buy. Cheers Richard.

Inland the spike was referred to as a pig sticker.

I've got a basic little knife that we think* was issued to my granddad in the army.
But, he didn't seem to talk about it much, and my parents aren't sure. We now have nobody really who can confirm either way. Either way, was his, is now mine, and is interesting. I'll try to remember to get some pics. |
