so i dont know much about vintage reels but i know enough to know that $20 for this lot was a ridiculously stupidly good price to pay cant find much info so far of the daiwa but the mitchell 499 made in france with no bail arm is a gem to say the least nearly didnt see the alvey bad but scored it for 3 bucks shame the owner wrote on it all in all no lures but happy with my additions

not a bad score,i remember those wading bags from when I used to work at alveys ive got one myself they're very good.that old mitchells a good find ,I think you can still get parts for some old models

The old Mitchell 499 were a great reel, I had the 489, also a great old reel, smashed plenty of good Mackeral with it back in the day

Cheers chris would you have any idea as to how old it may be? The mitchell is in perfext working order the man who owned it looked after his gear very stoked aparently the hardest model to find from what i have read. And it looks like a strong reel would be good to try it out. Cheers sonny

Great pickup Sonny, that Mitchell still worth over $100. Not sure of its age, maybe 80's or later. Haven't seen too many blue in colour! The 7000 big Daiwa was a good basic reel in the 70's until the GS9 became their standard big fish reel.
You can take the Texta writing off the bag with a bit of turps on a rag...

Yeah mate stoked not keen on selling it the mitchell that is but ill try n offload the daiwa i dont collect reels well i have 6 so maybe soon ill start thanks for the advice with the turps will give it a go when i get back from site
