Dave , make a fresh cut in the end grain and put your nose to it and inhail , the timbers grain and colour looks like it from the pics,Shane.Smile

Dave, if you rub the saw dust/timber, does it have a waxy feel. Beech is heavier than Cedar and does have a distinct smell. Like Brad says, it looks like white beech, try carving some, it is not as soft as Jelutong but still good to carve. Hope this helps.

thanks guys white beech it is ,yes it is good to carve but not as floaty as ceder and maybe it has some applications for suspending and slow sink small lures but still retain a good wobble, pearcey

hello jas havnt used white beech much except for a few ive carved its good to play around with timber i havnt used before , will post up a few pics of the finished lures shane , pearcey

Dave I have been using Beech and Red C and look on both as floaters. My next little test run is to make a suspending lure with the smallest bib possible so I am looking for something heavier again.
