Dave, Looks like Hairy Oak or Zebra wood, had a small amount sent me from Capt Cranky, made 1 lure. Very hard to work, nice grain for nudes . Cheers Richard.

Doesn't look like Hairy Oak to me! It has a more mottled grain. Maybe one of our Eucalypts?

Was it local pallet or from OS Dave??
Not any of the aussie oaks, grain is too long, and looks a bit blonde for Zebrano. Are there any yellowish specks in the grain, can't quite see in the pic?? |

I was thinking its more likely Merbau or close relative. Merbau gets used a lot in indo/pacific hardwood pallets and skids, pretty inpervious to borers and fungi which is what is required in pallets for export. Not common to see these days as most are made from treated pine.
As a side comment, Oak was used for many years in export pallets from USA, if your lucky enough to find one, the bearers would yield a good number of lure bodies. Brad |

Had to laugh when I saw this post, not the lure, the dog.
Ever noticed how dogs always manage to get in the shot? My old mum had a mongrel for 16yrs., everytime she took a family photo the dog would invariably be in it. This was long before digital cameras, you wouldn't see results until after development, my mum would always cut the heads off of people (she was no Lord Litchfield), but the bloody dog always came out perfect .
Sorry to get off topic Dave, but couldn't resist, your nude Scorpion is finished, if you're still off the fags come and get it, however if not, you can't have .
Seaweed.
